Psychologist for Men

Learn the importance of Men’s Mental Health services

While seeking support for mental health concerns has become largely destigmatised in recent years, for many men, sadly, the stigma remains.

However, with statistics showing that more than 75% of deaths by suicide If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14 in 2022 were men, the need for men’s mental health counselling has never been more apparent.

These same statistics highlight that, on average, approximately 1 in 8 men experience depression and 1 in 5 men will experience anxiety at some point during their lives. Rather than ignore these concerns or deal with them through unhealthy means, seeing a men’s mental health psychologist can offer a path to a happier, more fulfilling life.

At times less attuned to their emotions or less willing to discuss them, some men may struggle to identify why they are struggling mentally or how to manage this.

We're here to help

Confronting your mental health concerns head-on and committing to work on them can be daunting and uncomfortable. However, you do not have to navigate this process alone or resign yourself to a life of struggle, a men’s health psychologist can help you find a way through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Thinking about taking the next step?

Reaching out takes courage – and we think that deserves to be acknowledged. These are some of the questions we hear most often from men considering counselling for the first time. If something’s still on your mind, our friendly team is always just a phone call or email away.

We often get asked...:

Are your Men’s Psychologists exclusively male?

No, when seeking therapy your psychologist can be either male or female. While men frequently feel most comfortable speaking to another man, this is not always the case.

As such, we offer counselling for men from both male and female psychologists to ensure that we are best able to suit our client’s preferences and make them as comfortable as possible.

Psychology for men can involve the use of a variety of therapeutic tools such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Restructuring among others.

Which of these will be used during your therapy journey will be determined based on your needs and preferences and what we feel will be most effective in helping treat your concerns.
