We offer three assessment pathways for autism and ADHD assessments for your child or teen.
ADHD & Autism Assessment (Comprehensive)
This comprehensive assessment explores whether your child or teen may meet criteria for ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or both. It also provides a detailed understanding of cognitive strengths, learning profile, behavioural patterns, social functioning and practical recommendations for support at home and school.
This Assessment Includes:
- Clinical and developmental interview
- MIGDAS autism assessment
- Cognitive/IQ assessment (WPPSI, WISC or WAIS)
- Conners 4 ADHD assessment
- Vineland adaptive functioning assessment
- DIVA ADHD interview
- Comprehensive written report
- Feedback session with parents and child/teen where appropriate

ADHD Assessment (Children & Teens)
This assessment explores whether your child or teen meets criteria for ADHD and identifies how attention, impulsivity and executive functioning may be impacting learning, behaviour and daily functioning. The assessment can assist with:
- School supports and recommendations
- Understanding learning and attention difficulties
- Clarifying behavioural concerns
- Supporting referral pathways for medical review
Please note: Psychologists cannot prescribe ADHD medication. If medication is being considered, a psychiatrist or paediatrician assessment is required. Your assessment report can be provided to your medical specialist as part of that process.

How long does the process take?
Timeframes can vary depending on appointment availability and completion of questionnaires by parents, teachers or other respondents. We will discuss expected timelines with you at booking.
Are Medicare rebates available for child ADHD and autism assessments?
In some circumstances, partial Medicare rebates may be available for assessment services under the Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder and Eligible Disability initiative (previously known as the Helping Children with Autism or “HCWA” program).
Children & Young People Under 25
- Are referred by a paediatrician or psychiatrist; and
- The referral is made under the appropriate Medicare assessment item numbers for complex neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or ADHD.
Eligible clients may be able to access rebates for up to 8 allied health assessment services in total across all providers involved in the assessment process (e.g. psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy).
Please note:
- A standard Mental Health Care Plan from a GP does not usually cover comprehensive ADHD, Autism or cognitive assessments.
- Rebates are generally only available when the referral comes from a paediatrician or psychiatrist using the correct Medicare item numbers.
- Medicare rebates do not cover the full cost of an assessment and out-of-pocket expenses will apply.
Are adult assessments eligible for Medicare rebates?
Medicare rebates for adult ADHD and Autism assessments are more limited. Some adults may be eligible for rebates relating to psychiatric assessment or ongoing psychological therapy, depending on their referral pathway and circumstances.
Will someone else need to be involved in the assessment?
For children and teens, parent involvement is an important part of the assessment process. Teacher questionnaires are also often required.
For adult assessments, input from a parent, partner or significant support person can assist with developmental history and understanding how symptoms present across settings.
Can the report be used for NDIS?
Yes. If you require an NDIS autism assessment or ADHD report, additional NDIS-specific reports can be prepared where required for an additional fee.
How are Medicare rebates processed?
Where eligible, our practice can process Medicare rebates on your behalf following each appointment.
